Here at Desert View Animal Hospital, we have been providing our clients with compassionate and quality medical care for animals of all sizes for over 10 years now. Our licensed, insured, and certified experts are the best in the industry. We have knowledgeable and skilled professionals for all areas of animal care, from veterinary to pet grooming. We are a proud member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Association of Feline Practitioners, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Rest assured that your pets are in safe hands.
When you are going away for a long time and you have to leave your pets behind, we’ll furnish them with a cozy home with our heated and air conditioned facilities. We will assure you that they have the time of their life by feeding them at the right time, and providing them outdoor exercise and playtime.
Our doctors perform surgeries on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Everything from spays and neuters to repairing torn ligaments. We use an ECG monitoring system as well as a dedicated technician to observe your pet during the entire surgery. Clients can choose a number of additional services such as blood work, and IV catheters to provide fluids for faster recovery times.
Our in-house lab allows us to provide fast, accurate results for our patients and clients. Our advanced blood machines can quickly assess liver and kidney function and determine infections along with a number of other medical conditions.
Our Computer Radiograph system lets us take and store detailed X-rays of your pet, for accurate diagnosis of bones and joints. We can then email, burn to CD or transfer to the owner or a specialist for follow-up care.

Pet Day Care and Boarding
We offer day boarding or, if your pet is staying overnight, large cages or roomy kennels. We also have cat condos for our feline friends. Our clinic provides blankets and Science Diet Sensitive Stomach dry food. Clients are welcome to bring their own food, treats, toys and bedding if they prefer. Every two hours we take our canine boarders to our large exercise/play runs for bathroom and outdoor time. Our kennel space is limited and we schedule on a "first come first served" basis, so it is best to schedule ahead of time especially for holidays, the summer and weekends.
Julie Rassmussen, through Best Friends Obedience Training, offers an 8-week course to identify problem behaviors, methods of correction and simple obedience commands, such as "stay" and "recall" (also known as heel or come). She focuses on using positive reinforcement, or rewarding good behavior rather than discipline, or punishing bad behavior. The class meets once a week at the clinic at 7pm. It costs $75 for the entire course. Private 1-on-1 sessions can be scheduled if desired for aggressive dogs or restrictive schedules. She also has a 6 week puppy preschool for socialization and basic skills work, and an advanced class for further problem behaviors and "off-leash" training. She can be reached at the clinic, at (307) 350-0863 or by email at [email protected]
Special Care and Isolation
We understand that when your pet becomes sick or injured, it may need to be given more regular care to recover. Our heated hospital area provides blankets, food and quick access to medication for seriously injured or sick pets and is strategically located to provide frequent observation.
Unfortunately, when pets become sick it may be able to spread to others. For that we have a private hospital kennel to house and care for our patients who may need to be isolated from others. This room is heated and equipped with its own examination table and outside access. A dedicated technician oversees the treatment of your pet each day along with the doctor to get them feeling better and home as quickly as possible.
Our clinic is also trained in the care of large animals too. Our facility has 2 clean stalls and a set of stocks available for horses, livestock and other large animals. Our doctors can provide treatment for wounds, medical issues such as colic, vaccinations and teeth floats. They can also provide answers to questions concerning the proper care of horses and livestock.
The passing of a beloved pet is a sad and difficult time for any owner, and we at DVAH strive to make it as easy and painless as possible. We offer euthanasia and cremation services. Euthanasia can be done with the support of the family present to say goodbye, or privately if desired. For over 8 years we have used Pet Reflections for our cremations services and have always been impressed with their compassion and service. A member of their staff personally drives up to take your pet back to their facility where clients can request a group, or private cremation with a paw print or ashes back.
Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as rodent bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
